Detergent suggestion? - cheap, good for dipes & clothes

I'm thinking about crunchy clean, but since it appears she makes it at home, I wonder if it's any better than homemade detergent I've made. I didn't have great success with homeade detergent. All our whites turned gray, and we wear a lot of white. Plus, stains didn't get out as well.

I don't know what you consider cheap, but I love Charlies Soap.

It does a great job in our hard water on our diapers, my dh very greasy work clothes and all our regular clothes. It did take about a bag and a half before I found the love. It pulls all the build up out of your laundry and in that time I didn't think it worked great but I continued using it and now it gets stains out great (with no pretreating unless less it is a known stainer with any detergent) and our whites are white. Diapers are clean, stain free for the most par(we do have 2 diapers with poo stains but out of almost 5 dozen that's not bad). I don't have to use fabric softener as everything comes out so soft, unlike any fabric softener I have ever used.

I could go on and on. I know it is natural and some people say they have had bad reactions but DD2 has sensitive skin and we have had no issues.
