anxious to be done decluttering...

... so i can get on with my life. seriously, i have been decluttering for many months now. the upstairs of my house was in bad shape. piles of stuff everywhere. i have worked on it fairly diligently, (almost) every night after everyone else is asleep. my "big breaks" came when i got rid of some big pieces of furniture that were taking up room and not contributing much. namely, a large wooden CD/DVD/VHS tape rack that was also a hazard due to my crawling 9 month old son pulling up on everything. and a few other big space hogs, that allowed me to rearrange. i also brought up from the basement a large white bookcase that now houses all of our childrens' books in one place. i like it!

i have also found success with "just doing it" whatever jumps to mind that needs done. in other words, don't put it off, just get that particular item done and checked off.

now i am down to a relatively small number of piles left. chiefly in one room (the guest bedroom of course!)

i am really anxious to be done with this decluttering.

i recently treated myself to a new sewing machine and sewing/craft table in one of my newly cleaned out rooms. i would really like to get it set up and working! and to begin crafting ASAP! this in my "free time" (i.e., about 2 hours each evening after everyone is gone to bed.)

i would very much like to spend this time every day working on projects that are personally satisfying, rather than sorting out big bags of "giveaways" from our vast collections of childrens' clothing hand-me-downs and my own ill-fitting wardrobe. (that's what remains to be sorted and dealt with, mainly.)

alas, i think i have a few more weeks of work to go on the decluttering project however. but i reallyreallyreally want it to be done, so i can get on with living my life.

wish me luck!!

ps: thanks for all of the help and inspiration i have found on this board. it has been a big part of my success so far.

I'm anxious and ready to be done decluttering too. I had been working on it every night after everyone else goes to bed but I would get too tired or distracted and didn't feel like I was making a ton of progress. The 10 minute thread has been helping motivate me to get stuff done and its amazing how much can be done in that little time. I've been using it to work on cleaning the house and decluttering just working on one area/bag/box at a time. I hope to force myself to do at least one 10 minute session an hour every day this week and get a good deal accomplished. If I can keep on it I think I can take care of most of the stuff in the house so I can start working on storage areas and packing next week. We'll see.
