Anyone NOT have a name? - Page 2

We're waiting at this point to pin something down. I think we are both hoping the perfect name magically appears when we see her/his little face.

that's why I don't talk to anyone about names before my partner and I have decided. it's hard enough trying to agree on a name together!

I hope its easy. I always have a hard time naming my babies, as I don't want to give them bad numerology or initials or name connotations. But I think we did an ok job so far. I still wonder if my first DD's name should be Haeven (she used to say she wanted to change it at 3 years old).. but my partner doesn't like "R" names, which I thought (and she thought) suited her better. arg. sometimes I wish I could just decide by myself! There are a lot of names that I adore and he has shot them down... I think this time, if I'm sure of the baby's name, I'm going to say "Sorry, but this is his/her name "he will come around

no name here, we do have a middle name "Louise" since we name after grandparents and Louise was the only one left :-).

We have a list, but I threw it out and started from scratch a few days ago, just to drive my hubby up a wall.

We don't name until we see the baby which drives people crazy, but that's what we do so we still have time.

NO NAME here, either!!!

We refer to the baby by a few names, almost by way of sort of trying them out, but none of them are really totally CLICKING with me.

I've never lacked a long list of girl names that I love. When my dd was born, I was sooooo happy with her name, it just felt so so so right.

But I don't have anything like that with this little guy. I have a hard time with boy names. And the one name that I liked was going to be the name ex and I were going to name our baby if it was a boy (then I miscarried). So I can't use that one now with my dp!

I'm wondering if anything ever will "click" for me the way it did with dd or whether rather we'll just choose something that we, you know, like okay and then it will grow on me (us).

But time is a-wastin'!

My mom canNOT handle not knowing a name. She called this afternoon and pulled the "you can just tell me....." Um, mom we do not have named picked out. Go fly a kite!

I told one person the name I like best and she then told everyone within earshot (at a craft fair at DS's school) I knew to keep my mouth shut from then on.

We have a girl's name all picked out- this is a big surprise to us because we have struggled and struggled and STRUGGLED with girl names...then the perfect one just came to us- it's in a beautiful song we've both always liked and DH was playing on the guitar and said, why not -name-? And we both thought- THAT is the one! We tried out a few but couldn't agree on the pronunciation or nicknames, and after a while each of them just didn't feel right. But this name is perfect-it's not what we expected, but it's definitely our baby girl's name! ...IF it's a girl.

As for a boy's name- we have a whole bunch we both really like, but now that this girl's name came to us in a such a perfect way, we're both waiting for a boy's name that calls out to us. I dunno if it'll ever happen though. Maybe, if it's a boy, we'll have to wait to meet him.

We haven't told anyone our name choices either. No comments needed from the peanut gallery, thank you very much.

Wise woman.

I made the mistake of telling the in-laws a name that we liked but we hadn't decided on it then. We since have, but haven't told people it's definitely the one.

Last night, FIL comes into the kitchen and announces,
'By the way, I don't like the name x'

I said something like, 'good thing your opinion doesn't count then'.

But of course I am really offended being the sensitive pregnant person that I am!
Why can't people keep their mouths shut or be polite?!??!?!

We have a first name but I don't feel settled on the middle name.

I think Sparrow is a great name! I love the Pirates of the Caribbean movies (Jack Sparrow...Johnny Depp's character) but I wouldn't even consider that if I heard the name. (PS- they are coming out with another movie next year).

Our youngest had a different name for about a day and a half but then we changed it before signing the birth certificate papers bc it just wasn't suiting her at all. I'm so glad we did!

Good luck...there is still time! Even if it doesn't feel like it

I have been joking with my Jewish family members that the baby name will be revealed at the bris (as is traditional in some communities).

As we are not having a bris, he will remain nameless forever.

Yup, I haven't seen all the movies, but I don't think I would make that association myself, it seems other people do though! I guess there is some other game, unrelated, that uses that name. I don't know that many "gamers" so it may not matter though.

I also love, love, love the name Sparrow. I think the Jack Sparrow references would be a thing for a few years, but I think they would stop - there's been 3 of those movies and they aren't planning on making any more, I don't think.

If you love birds why not look up some ornithology sites?

We're not settled yet either. I think first names are settled but middle names are still up for grabs and we can't agree. We've tabled it for now. Hopefully something will come to us all!
I actually do like the name Polly, just not Polly Jean, and then there are 5 generations of Paul in my family, so that seems strange. I have thought about looking up other birds... All I could think of was Finch from To Kill a Mockingbird! I do know a woman that named all her kids after birds, and it wasn't really so cute.

We're sort of back to the drawing board as well, and probably won't have anything settled until after the baby is born, maybe a few days even. My friend always names her babies a week after they are born. No big deal.
Thanks! I really can't get this association out of my head. Not so much with dh though.

I am afraid that if we wait we might name her jellybean or something! My friend wanted to name her baby "Trouble" Yes, I'm serious, so she changed the vowels and named her something else. I just think that's kind of uh, sad.

That's what we did with my dd, but this list isn't getting short!

That's so cool! I was named after a song too, and music is quite important to me, and dh, so this seems like a good way to go but it's not working out! When I was preggo with dd I couldn't even fathom a boys' name, I took it as a sign!

We don't tell people our names either, maybe sprinkle a couple around with our friends who like unusual names but that's it. My friend who is Native American suggested Sparrow, she comes up with the best nature names! I think that with her tribe they can get away with all kinds of names that may not be accepted in mainstream society though??? Who knows?

I'm just glad I'm not the only one in this situation!!! I don't feel quite so behind now! I would just like a shorter list so when we meet her we have something.

I usually like to have 2 names chosen and then decide after the baby is born but it is so much harder since we don't know the sex this time. I have one name I really like for a girl, and if its a boy I have 2 that I am so-so on , but it is hard. DH keeps coming up with such dorky suggestions, its ridiculous.
ahhhh, this is such a relief, i am not alone

we have a list of 6 names, and are HOPING when he is born one will just feel right! right now dh and i just don't *love* the same ones. but i am secretly hoping he will come around to my favorite

That's what we always do. We have at least two names and pick after the baby is born. With this baby we have only agreed on one first name but we have a couple of runner-ups...hopefully we won't need them.

Last time, DH wanted to name our daughter Rapunzel. Okay, he didn't really WANT to, but he just kept suggesting it, anyway. Needless to say, this baby is unnamed, although we do have three names on the "maybe" list.

How about Raven? Lark? Piper (for sandpiper)? Myna? Robin?

No names here either. We have a few that we keep going back to, but definitely not decided. We named DD when she was 2 days old, and the name we chose for her just came out of nowhere... so maybe that will happen with this one too. I think we have middle names picked out- Harmony for a girl or Lyric for a boy.

Love both these names! Beautiful and unusual

No names here - no one is even trying to pick one! The last 2 boys didn't have a name for like a week. With our first kids - DH nixed everything I ever liked, we settled on something & then he changed up immediately after birth...so I've given up! I tell him/the kids "you better come up with a name, cause I'm not!"

They all tell me they want to wait til they get to see/know the baby. That's fine for a HB...but If I deliver at the hosp - I'm going to want out as quick as possible & baby won't have a name!

I like those names too! One just might happen to be my name and the other is on our list.
