6YO burning during urination

A few weeks ago my son was treated with antibiotics for a UTI. He had complained of burning while he peed and then when I collected urine in a cup, it was indeed cloudy. Now, 3wks later, he said this morning "mom, its burning when I pee again!" i collected pee and it is crystal clear. He fiddles with himself a lot, so much that i've wondered if it completely cleared up. I ask him if its itchy and he says no, but his hand is constantly there, and now this morning he is having burning again. Any ideas? I have a doc appt set up for this Friday in case he is still complaining, and I had him take a shower so he could give himself a good clean. When he pulls back on his own foreskin, the head isn't really revealed at all, so maybe the retraction is starting - would that cause an urge to play more down there, ie: some discomfort? Thanks for any input

I don't know if it makes them want to play with themselves more, we aren't quit there yet. But I say it wouldn't hurt to take a urine sample (even the clean one) in and have them check for your piece of mind. I am guessing the separation process is starting thought.

The burning could be separation related have you seen this thread http://www.mothering.com/discussions...d.php?t=764732

Was the UTI confirmed by sending a urine sample collected in a sterile container to a lab? Or was the anti-bx px'd based on symptoms and and the urine looking cloudy?

If the UTI was confirmed, then it may be a resistant strain of bacteria and the UTI has come back. Also recurrent UTIs in boy can indicate anomalies in the urinary track.

However, if it was never confirmed, then I would suspect misdiagnoses. Slight burning while peeing can easily be caused by separation or a minor scratch from him playing with himself. Cloudy urine has many causes, including a little smegma mixing with the pee, which would fit right in with separation.
