My DD is almost 4 and she has way too many toys! Every birthday and holiday we are drowning in toys...and they are nice toys too for the most part, like wooden puzzles and play sets DD really enjoys.
I've been brainstorming up ways to organize her room because it's small and resembles a terrible walk-in-closet jammed with toys. It's a huge source of frustration for me and for her as a result...
Do you think it would be a good idea to get those big plastic totes and organize them as one tote for each day, rather than sorting her things by type? I'm thinking of putting a handful of books, a couple puzzles, a coloring book and/or craft supplies, a game, and a couple of play sets or toys into each one. (I might even go as far as to put a label with contents on them so we can find something specific if we need to.) That way we could pull out a new box every few days and it would be filled with stuff to do. I have a newborn, so this will also help cut down on the stress of occupying DD and then cleaning up a billion toys each day.
We'll probably leave out her staple toys--a wooden castle with figurines, the Little People bin, a couple dolls, and her art drawer with pens, coloring, and notebooks.
Has anyone tried anything like this before? I want to be sure it's a good idea before I go through all of the trouble!
