New to Mothering and a question

I was referred over here from someone on TheBump. I just got my BFP on Sunday and am 4 weeks. I will be traveling quite a bit throughout my pg (this is my 3rd) and will not be near my OB until the last 2 months. I feel confident given my past 2 pgs that I will be able to skip over some of the prenatal appointments and was wondering what I would need to do (or could do) for my own prenatal care?

I'm not really sure if I'm being clear in my questions, but I'm not really sure what I'm asking. Basically, I don't want to find new doctor's offices while traveling but do want to make sure my baby is growing as it should with no problems. Thoughts?

Thank you so much!

Welcome to MDC!

I'm pretty sure that I've read posts on here from mamas who didn't do much in terms of prenatal appts. The thing that stands out to me in your post is the "make sure my baby is growing as it should with no problems" part. The only way you're really going to know that (and maybe not even then) is with screenings like bloodwork and ultrasounds. Obviously, you'd need to be seeing a doc or midwife for that.

What were your first two pregnancies like? Uneventful?

My previous pgs were great. Bloodwork was fine, no pre-e, perfect blood pressure, dilated on my own, easy labor/deliveries under 5 hours each.

The only hiccup was borderline GD. My dad has Type 2, so I knew I was at risk, but I monitored myself each day and adjusted my diet and managed it myself. With pg #2, I failed the 1 hour, passed the 3 hour but still monitored myself and I was just fine.

I will be back at one of my 2 OB's after about 23 weeks and plan on receiving regular visits beyond that point, it's just the first half I'm wondering about.

I'm thinking since appts are usually only once a month, I should be okay in the beginning.

Obviously it's a decision you have to make yourself, but if I was in your situation, I'd be pretty comfortable going it alone for the first 23. Do you have the kind of relationship with your OB that you can call if you feel like you have a question or a problem, just in case, even if you're not seeing her/him at the time?

Yeah, I think I'd be okay. My OB office is great, no matter the reason I need to call them. I'm pretty comfortable with my decision and appreciate you guys giving me your thoughts as well.
