Prepping prefolds - STILL BUBBLES!

Title sort of asks the question. I finally got around to prepping DS-to-be's prefolds. I bought them new off of Cotton Babies, the Indian type.

I washed them twice in hot water, using about half the detergent called for (just a regular grocery free & clear brand). I've now washed them four more times, once in hot, the other three with warm (as I started to feel guilty about using so much hot water). I STILL have soap bubbles in my water when its agitating.

I'm going to have to hang them and try again in the morning. Any ideas? Vinegar, baking soda? Did I do something wrong? We do have hard water here.

I guess I better be VERY mindful of how much detergent I use in the future!!!

Your last sentence pretty much sums it up. It is a science I swear to get the perfect about of detergent. Enough to clean the diapers but not enough to spend the whole day rinsing.

I would just cut the detergent down more when you wash again. Good thing is they should be nice and prepped when you are done getting the suds out.

Try vinegar. It can help with the bubbles, particularly in hard water.

But yes, far too much detergent.

You say you're still seeing bubbles during agitation. Are you sure they're soap bubbles and not agitation bubbles?

This! I gave up on the whole rinse until you see no bubbles issue. It never mattered a lick if there were bubbles for me or not.

you really only need a small amount of soap.
i use 1 and 1/2 T for a front loader with 22 prefolds
i measure with a child's medicine spoon
