Other sleeping positions

Thread Starter
My daughter is 7 months and we have been side-lay sleeping. She comfort nurses through the night and my neck and back are paying the price. I sleep with a pillow behind me and in between my knees. I haven't mastered the lean over (so she can nurse from the "top" breast) so I end up rolling over to switch sides half way through the night. She will eventually fall off the breast but by that time I am asleep, still propped up by the pillow the plus side to this is that she can then find my breast again on her own and I don't wake up.
I wonder if there are any other positions or tips to make the nights more comfortable.
Thanks.

I feel your back pain... I had/have it too. When they are little, side lying was the way I did it too. When they get big enough though, you can lie on your back with the baby nursing. I never thought my breasts could do it, but it works. To try it, have baby on breast, with your arm under, so LO's head is on your shoulder, then just roll to your back. My shoulder keeps her head up high enough... I don't remember how old when this worked, but it definitely helps with the pain. I don't normally sleep on my back either, but it is preferable to the pain from side lying nursing to me. When baby lets go of nipple, they naturally roll down to your side, with their face up.
