What would you make?

For a newborn boy who's family/mommy you know nothing about?

For a 1yr old boy (bday)
For a 1yr old girl (bday)
Both from 'crunchy' mom's groups.

Ideas?

for a newborn, i would make a sling so he can be kept close to his mommy.
or flannel receiving blankets, because they are so easy and quick to make up.

for the one year olds, you could make these, which are so pretty and lots of fun to make:

when I have made these, i have done a browns page on the back for boys and a pinks page for girls.

Those color books are cute!

My old standbys are knitted hats and kimono-style pajamas.

That fabric color book is adorable!

For newborns I make various knitted gifts, stuffed baby blocks or animals. Or a textured cloth toy. You could also make a set of wipes, if you think they are the type to cloth diaper. Or, I guess wipes would be useful regardless of diapering choices.

I have thought about making books decorated with pictures of flowers, animals, trees, bugs, people they know, etc, and then laminated. (Or photo-safe laminated. If such a thing exists). Or you could make felt food, money or letters/envelopes for the 1 year olds

Playsilks (buy from dharma trading co. and dye them with kool-aid) are great for all ages, but particularly the 1 yo.

For the 1 year olds I'd probably do some little cloth shopping bags, with some felt food if I had lots of time or beanbags if I wanted something faster. My kids at that age loved carrying round bags of stuff!

Or a simple cloth doll http://judisdolls.com/babybows/index.html

For the newborn a crinkle taggie toy? http://www.joyshope.com/2009/05/baby...-tutorial.html

For a newborn, I'm embroidering burp cloths and bibs.

For a one year old, I embroidered a set of onesies with monkeys and the days of the week.

For a two year old, I'm working on embroidering a set of tees with the characters from Yo Gabba Gabba and making her a pillow case to match.

Simple funky embroidery is kind of my one trick, I like to do it, and I don't have nearly enough excuses to do it. It's easy to make patterns for punch needle as well (just their names with simple designs are good). These kids all have more toys than they have space, so I try to come up with something they can wear, eat, or hang on the wall.

For a newborn Gigi Giraf is a good toy as she has a very long neck which is easy to grip for little hands.

For a one year old a little tote bag for carting things around is handy. I just made a little bucket for a 1 year old and his mum loves it! It is from this tute.

For the 1 year olds, the bucket is GREAT. I haven't made it but I can tell you my 17 month old would LOVE it. She is very in to emptying and filling things.

For newborns, I make an outfit. For a 1 yo, a doll carrier/sling like mommy's.
