Well it looks like we have a new pet...

A stray dog showed up at our house yesterday and started eating some scraps (that were suppose to be for the chickens ). He came back today and I fed him but apparently he slept on the back porch last night and DH was playing with him this morning before work. So now we have a new pet. He's obviously a lab mix and appears to be about 6 months old. The kids have been wanting a dog but we were planning to wait until we got moved (still don't know how long that will be though) but it appears that our new dog found us. I already went and bought all the supplies he needs and tomorrow he'll get wormer/shots/etc. Gotta see also about making him an appt to get neutered. The kids are sooo happy they got a new puppy!

How wonderful! I always wanted to be the recipent of a pet that chose me, but it hasn't happened so far.

we were the recipients of a cat who adopted us when i was about 10 years old. She was the BEST cat. The most laid-back cat ever. She actually went missing for a while when I was in college because she was so sweet that somebody else in the neighborhood had adopted her! (she had gotten her collar off). We thought something awful had happened to her, but then one day my dad looked down and there were two cats at the food bowl again!

I love being adopted by pets

We've just been adopted by a new kitten! It's the best way to acquire pets, in my opinion.

Before you decide to keep him you should try to find his owner. Someone may be looking for this dog. Please place an ad on craigslist at the very least. It is considered stealing to take in someone's pet.

Recently rescued a 6 week old kitten from a busy street/outside a high rise apartment. She is the BEST - affectionate, laid back but playful [does that make sense?] and we all love her. DD maybe loves her too much, but hey. My cat Ginger got the way she is [so laid back she plays dress up] by getting used to a toddler's "love" early on.

Bring the dog to the vet to have him scanned for a microchip first before you get to attached

I checked lost pet ads in our area and let everyone know (even at the co-op today) that I have a found pet. No leads yet on where he came from and with the fleas & ticks he has and how underfed he was I'm thinking he's been a stray for a bit now (or had a bad owner before )

I gave him a flea/tick bath and he has a new flea/tick collar. Got all the ticks off of him and cleaned his ears and teeth. He's looking a lot better now and has been really sweet about the whole process.

Oh and the kids named him Marley like off of "Marley and Me"
