Roanoke & Smith Mountain Lake Area 4th of July

Hello! My in-laws live in Wirtz, VA, and we will be there 4th of July weekend.

Does anyone know of any good family happenings in that area for the 4th?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

the Salem Fair will be in town from July 1-11th. Its in Salem, which is right beside Roanoke. Big fair, free parking/admission, rides for little kids or big people, fair food, petting zoo-normal fair/carnival stuff. usually some events inside as well.
