Okay...my DH has a weird theory on menstrual flow and sex drive...

He thinks that there's a correlation between how heavy a woman's period is and her sex drive.

A few years back my sex drive went from "quite healthy" to "basically zero" and at that time my periods got lighter and less painful. (My flow used to be ridiculous and so painful I could be bedridden for the first day and nauseated due to pain for the next couple)

We've become friends with a couple at his work...the wife is in the same position I was...horrible periods and high sex drive.

So, I thought I'd ask (because nothing is sacred on MDC ) If you have horrible periods how's your sex drive?

Well, my libido has plummeted like crazy over the past year (which I'm not very happy about), and my periods are MORE annoying. Less PMS, but more cramps and the flow is different in consistency.

Nope. I never had bad periods and I have the sex drive of several people.

I don't have the pain component (when having menses - love EBF), but do have heavy flow... then have high drive. Right now, drive is absent.

In a way, your husband is correct. If my pd flow is lighter, my sex drive is less. It goes opposite if my flow is heavier.

There might be some correlation based on my experience because I have low sex drive, but I think its just low sex drive for my DH and if polygamy was ok, I think that I'd have high sex drive for others (speaking from experience) But for me personally I think there is more of a correlation with my dietary changes, but then I wonder why people who eat the same as me still have menstrual problems. There was a poll on here a few weeks ago asking about menstrual cramps and honestly I was very shocked at how many people get cramps and the severity of them and shocked at how very few people have no cramps whatsoever, me being one of the few. I also have a friend who eats a Traditional Foods/nutrient-dense diet like me and both of us have no menstrual cramps whatsoever. I can never tell when my period is coming or when I've already started my flow because I never feel any different at all and I'm not one of those people who tracks when my period is supposed to come, but I know that I get it regularly every month (I'm still breastfeeding and got my period back at 10 months postpartum and it has been regular ever since then---now 2.5 years postpartum). My flow is heavy for about the first couple of days and the total flow lasts about 5 to 6 days, which I guess is a bit lengthy. I'd much prefer 3 to 4 days. I use cloth pads.

Heavy, painful periods with endometriosis (although everything got better post-pg and after switching to mama cloth). Med-high sex drive.

For me, breastfeeding was much more of an indicator. When breastfeeding with any frequency, my sex drive is super, super low.

I have never had an issue in the libido dept...I think dh wishes I did at times.

I have a light flow and no cramping whatsoever. As a teen I had heavier flow and cramps-but it's been decades since that was the case. No correlation for me, sorry.

Me - super easy, no cramps, easy flow periods, and very high sex drive. Every woman is different.
