My DD just turned 4 months. For the past 5 or 6 nights she has had loads of trouble falling asleep at night. She still naps really well during the day (too well?) but when I put her down for the night she just cries even though she is tired. Before, she would just fall asleep on her own. Last night I tried nursing her to sleep in our bed but she woke up after half an hour. I honestly don't feel like spending my whole evening trying to get her to sleep so I just bring her downstairs with me and she hangs out until my bedtime, at which point she will go to sleep. I don't mind doing this but I don't think it's a good long term solution. She's pretty overtired by that point which I want to avoid. She tends to make up the sleep by sleeping until 8am and then having a gargantuan nap in the morning. Usually 3-4 hours. She will nap again in the afternoon but not for as long. By bedtime she has usually been awake for about 3 hours. Should I limit the morning nap? Wake her up earlier? Or just do nothing and ride it out? WDYT?
