domperidone dosage

I started taking dom 2+ months ago, started with 4 pills, 4x a day. It worked, and I tried weaning down the pills and my supply dropped considerably. I tried this 2 separate times with the same results. Is it safe to continue taking 16 pills a day for another 6 months? ( I plan on weaning at a year, and my baby is 6 months now). I'm just concerned that this is too much or might have negative effects.

I stayed on 160 mg until a few weeks before DD turned 1. I then dropped 1 pill/week - so didn't completely wean off of dpd until she was around 15 months old. I think it is pretty common for moms to stay on it for a yr. I have heard of some staying on longer. My supply really dropped once I dropped a number of pills but since I was using a lactaid to supplement, DD really didn't seem to care.

I'm really surprised to hear about all these moms taking 160mg a day... I was told 90mg a day was the normal maximum dosage. Anyone have more info on this?
