Another Cervix Q.

I'm sure this has been asked, but I just can't find the answer anywhere. I've looked and looked (and looked) but I just can't find the answer.

We're semi-TTC. We're not trying hard, but we're not, not, trying either, if that makes sense. But, I'm trying to find out when my fertile days are, and it's sort of a pain, because my cervix is absolutely unmanageable. During my last period (I use the Diva Cup) it was straight up and down (this is when I realized where it was, and all that, haha) So, I though, "cool, I'm not one of the odd ones with sideways cervix's"...Well, then my period ends and it's up and down for a day or two, then it tips to the right a bit, then it's tipped to the right A LOT, then today it took me FOREVER to find it, and find out it's pointing straight back. What.the.heck!?

Is this normal? I was under the impression that it being backwards, or sideways was, but what's with this roaming cervix business? It just can't make up it's mind. Does this affect fertility? (The moving around so much)

This is my first post, but I'm a constant lurker. I pretty much come here for all my questions. Most recent was learning we could have a homebirth, with Tricare. Thanks to those ladies who've got it all lined out!

well, you will have to keep following it, but usually as it rises up around o time, it will straighten out too. mine always points towards my butt, but it points less butt-ish when it's in the high position. in any case, it's not anything to worry about. uteri and cervices (plural?) can point left right up down front back or sideways, and it really makes no difference for your chances.

one other thought- when you are checking your CP, is your body in the same position? ie.. are you always checking it when on the toilet, or one leg up, etc? Cuz, what position your body is in can totally change what position your cervix is in.
I also find I can move mine quite a bit by doing kegels or bearing down or whatnot.

Thanks everyone. I always check in the same position, too. I just might have a shy cervix, because she's WAY back there. (Has been all month so far). Anyone know if posture affects any thing. I'm going to be scowering this board for more tips. I'm getting really caught up in the TTC stuff, and it's really exciting! The "kinda" part is my dh

Mine does sort of like karmab's. Another thing I notice is that it is way different if you have anything in your bladder (I usually but not always check after I pee). It makes it seem way high for one thing. I also think sperm will soften it a little-- I've never seen this mentioned before. I thought mine made no sense at first, I'd checked it in the past but only on occasion so I wasn't familiar with my pattern. It's occasionally different, it has occasionally been to the side a little but rarely. My "low and firm" phase is not immediate after O and not the whole TWW--it goes high and medium and it goes soft at the end before AF. This confused me a few times because it went really soft early on when I was PG before too. I think it takes a few months before you know what to think of your cervix because "normal" is based only on yourself.

Mine tilts WAY back, even when during my most fertile time... however my uterus tilts forward more than most. All that means is my best position for conception is missionary and not doggy style (if it tipped forward toward your stomach, its better to have gravity working with the semen to get it to the opening by being face-down... tipped back, which is totally normal for most women, means face up is best)

And obviously it worked for me! LOL

That makes sense - it would be the prostaglanalins (sp?). Same reasoning as using sex to bring on labor - the hormones in the semen soften the cervix.
