Hi! My name is Brittney and I am 13 weeks along with my first baby. I'm so glad that my chiropractor told me about this website. We are planning to use the Bradley method and waterbirth. Right now we would deliever at a local hospital, but I would love to have a homebirth. Getting my husband on board will be a challenge though. I just started researching vaccines. I work with children with autism, so I'm already a little nervous about vaccinating. I just have to decide now whether or not we will do a delayed schedule or not vax at all. Luckily, there's plenty of time to do the research before our little one arrives.

Welcome!

Congratulations on your pregnancy! It took me a while to convince my DH that home birth was right for us. My experience taught me that the husbands are all about safety, so the best thing you can do is to show him the studies (the abstracts are usually free) that prove homebirthing with a well educated and well prepared birth assistant is consistently as safe or more safe than hospital births. Also, I highly recommend the documentary "The Business of Being Born", directed by Ricky Lake. That DVD is what finally convinced my husband It's available on Netflix or can be purchased on Amazon.

Best of luck to you!!!!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. My husband and I watched "The Business of Being Born" when I first found out I was pregnant. It is excellent! My husband is planning to watch it again. We interviewed two midwives this week for a homebirth. We found one that we're very happy with. My husband is still iffy, but he is being very supportive. He says he's 60% wanting a homebirth and 40% wanting a hospital birth. I imagine he will be more comfortable with a homebirth the farther along we get in the process. So far our parents are a little unsure of our decision, but are being pretty supportive overall. The next big thing for us to research is peds and vaccinations. We still don't know whether or not we are going to vaccinate at all or do an alternative schedule. I'm so glad we have plenty of time to get organized.
