Insulin pump

My dh is diabetic and is having a hard time controlling his blood sugar now. They've brought up an insulin pump but other than a co-worker many years ago, I have no first hand accounts of them being useful/pita/worth it. Anyone know anything about this?

My DH is also diabetic and uses a pump. They are very worth it. It does take 10-15 minutes to set up and change the set but that is only every 3 days(for his-I don't know if it would be different for a different pump). His has several options but after the initial getting used to it he rarely has to change anything. It has helped tremendously to get his BG under control/keep it under control. Compared to the needles/pens he has used in the past he finds this MUCH easier(he loves only being stuck once every three days for insulin-still has to check BG though).

Thanks! He doesn't mind doing his insulin but *hates* checking his numbers. I've finally started getting him doing it again recently after refusing for years.

I am on a pump. It took a while to get my settings correct, and that was a pain. But, I love it now. I am pregnant and I can not imaging doing this without the precision of a pump. It is just so much more flexable than MDI. If your husband has any questions pm me and I would be glad to answer.
