When does the velcro period end?

Since about 12 months or so Miles has been completely attached to me. I mean, not only can I not leave the room but he has to physically be near me just about every moment of the day. Its hard to cook, clean or do anything.

He may have some modeling gigs coming up but I'm afraid he'll just cry, scream and run to me when we show up for the shoot.

Please tell me this phase is coming to an end soon.

i HOPE it ends. my oldest dd (4) is very much like that. she has to constantly touch me which completely drives me crazy. she leans against me when i'm sitting down, hugs my legs when i'm standing up, touches my hair, my face, hangs on my clothes etc.. Ahe's getting better now and will actually do stuff on her own as she is older and has things she likes to do but everytime i turn around i'm tripping on her or shes crying because i have to run a block to the store and i dont want to take her with me. dd (3) is SUPER clingly...has to hang on me ALL the time... BUT the good news is ds (2)...loves to cuddle, but doesn't have to be with me all the time.
I'm not sure how to correct this so we can find a happy medium - they get me but i dont get over touched....but i'm interested to hear how other people respond.

In this house it comes at goes. Right now, DS could care less where anyone in the family is at any given time. Another week or two he will refuse to be anywhere I am not, or maybe it will be DH or possibly DD. We've always just not actively tried to encourage it, but not try to stop it either.

At this stage in the game they are hovering on the edge of being far more independent and part of that is developing a level of trust that "mommy will still be there even if I'm not".

So much of it is personality. DD just turned 3 and still wants to be a part of everything I do, go everywhere I go. She's more independent than she was at 2, or 18 months or 12 months but she's still my velcro girl.
