My parents are listening to what I am explaining and are willing to make some changes... not eggs for breakfast, but at least something. My dad still wants his granola for breakfast, which is pretty much oats and sugar the way my mom makes it. Is there any way to make a more TF granola?

I take oats, give it a light coating of coconut oil in a bowl, add in yogurt - just enough to make it pasty - and soak for 18 to 24 hours.
Then I spread it on a baking sheet, and put it in the oven on my lowest possible setting - 170 degrees and start drying it out. It can take a good portion of the day, and I give it a stir & break up pieces every 1 1/2 hours - 2 hours.
When it has cooled, you can "flavor" it any way you'd like. I add in coconut sprinkles (coconut that's been baked in maple syrup) and some times fresh fruit or dried fruit, and eat it with yogurt, although I'm sure it'd be good in milk, too. It keeps for a long time in a container in my pantry, although I usually eat it all up before it has ever gone bad.
If your parents *really* have to have the sugar coating, you could try to mix in some honey/rapadura......or brown sugar when you are baking it to give it more sweetness, but I'd maybe encourage them to add it in their bowls.
