I think you are fine not changing. If you get any leaks, just add a layer inside. I stopped changing once he was maybe 2 months, or less. He was a good sleeper too.

Sometimes, mostly depending on how much I wake up when I feed her. If I'm more awake, she gets changed. If I only wake myself up enough to get my boob out of my bra and latch her, then no.

We CD round the clock and only had problems when the diapers needed stripped and I didn't realize it (we had bought them used and I didn't think to strip them right away).
