Gah! Classic Cascade

I know MDC is the only safe place to vent about this.

Held my baby sister's hand today as she was in labor. She was so strong, such a trooper. Got to 7-8 cm, and then it turned into a mess. It went: AROM->Stadol->EFM->epidural->IFM->baby heartrate plumets->crash section. In the space of a few hours.

They don't know why his heartrate dropped like that. His head was very moulded so the assumption is "too big". She was so close to transition, I could hear it in her voice. She had worked so hard. And then to have it end with the rush down the hall not knowing what was going on, she was afraid, I could hear that too. And the trauma of an emergency section, being put under, not getting to see her baby right away. My heart is just breaking for her, but I can't say anything.

I'm glad we were there though. Her baby is precious and beautiful, and she needed the support. She is just ga-ga for that baby, even when loopy from the narcotics.

Its so sad that she went through so much, but how wonderful that you were there with her.

It's a beautiful, wonderful thing that she had a healthy baby boy.
It's a damn shame that the system treated her so badly to get him here.
