Making new dipes from old pf?

So, my 2 month old is outgrowing the great newborn cloth dipes I have. I have a ton of old toddler dipes that are not great-lots of holes in the outer layer. We used them a lot for my oldest and had a cheap dryer so it just chewed them up.

I'd like to use them to make new dipes for my babe but they seem huge for him. There about 4 inches or so longer than the newborn ones. Then I'd be adding more fabric to them. Do you think I could cut them down or would I risk them just falling apart? I'd be using them as inners and adding fabric on the outside to turn them into a fitted diaper.

Any thoughts?

the other idea would be to just roll them up and put them inside a cover. They are probably too big to do that, but you could cut them in half, serge or zigzag those edges and just use them to fold into covers. You can easily use them to put on the insides of new fitteds you make. just cut them down the seams and fold and/or cut them again if needed. Or you can cut them into thirds horizontally, then the thicker part is in the bottom of your fitted, where they need more soaker. Kymberli

I love the idea of cutting them into 1/3s horizontally; I hadn't thought of that but that makes a lot of sense! Thanks!
