ECV this am

After trying everything under the sun, we decided to go for ECV. I met with a wonderful OB Wednesday and he agreed it was our best bet at having a vaginal homebirth (no one supports breech vaginal in our area, so it meant a cesarean).

We went into the hospital this morning and they monitored the baby for a little and then the OB came in. It went very well! She turned, I wouldn't say easily, but SHE TURNED!! She tolerated it beautifully and continued to do well during the hour they had to monitor us afterward. They did an ultrasound and checked my placenta and said everything looks great. He does not think he will be turning back and gave us the green light to continue with homebirth! WOO HOO!

Hooray! Wow that's wonderful, you must feel great! Does anyone do moxibustion in your area, not that baby will turn again, but i've heard it's super effective.

Moxa was the only thing we didn't do. It is $75 per session and we just didn't have the money to spend. From what our OB said, he doesn't think she would have turned on her own, at any rate. It took a good bit to get her turned. We are estimating her to be near 10lbs, which is what I expected.

WaitingforKiddos - Yes, it was pretty uncomfortable. I am a HypnoBirthing practitioner and I used relaxation techniques and breathing to get me through. OB kept saying, "MAN! You are TOUGH!" DH couldn't be there because he had an interview, but my mom came. She said it looked like he was pushing really, REALLY hard. I have an anterior placenta and at one point he couldn't feel baby's head because it was behind my placenta. He kept going over the same path on my stomach - from fundus around the side, sweeping down toward my pelvis. Each pass felt like he was cutting me open. However, with the relaxation and breathing, I managed the pain very well. I let out a few grunts, but found if I were quiet, obviously, I would have less tension in my abdomen. Today, I am pretty sore, which he said to expect. My belly just feels bruised. I did have contractions for the rest of the day yesterday, too. Good luck and stay relaxed. That is the best advice I can give!
