Following up on an emailed resume?

Thread Starter
I just spent two hours spiffying up my resume and writing the perfect cover letter for a sweet, sweet job. And then I sent it off without requesting confirmation of delivery. D'oh!

should I re-send it WITH confirmation requested? Or should I send an email along in a few days making sure it was received?

I would call and follow up. Figure out who the person is who will be evaluating the resumes, and get on the phone with her. Something like, "This is Fuamami, I just wanted to follow up with you to be sure you received my resume. It looks like a terrific position/company and I think I would be a great asset to your team. I would love the opportunity to come in and speak with you about it. (If on voicemail) My number is xxx-xxxx, and my email is jjjj@jjjj.com"

If it's a local business, I might even go down in person - put on an interview outfit and go at an hour when you think the place wouldn't be too hectic (you may not be able to predict)
