has any one tried a candida diet - I think I really need to do one, but it seems so radical I'm scared I'll never manage it - any thoughts anyone

I have tried several. this one looks typical. They all vary a bit. They are not easy to do. They are worth it though. I did it for a year very successfully when I was 19 and had no one else to feed. I got rid of most of my allergies and my fibromyalgia has never been nearly what it was - used to be daily horrid pain, now a few times a year and not bad.

Just make a plan ahead of time, with your family. If they will keep nono's out of sight it will really help. The night before you start, and I suggest doing this garbage night, do a major pantry dump of illegals, and if you must keep some for other family, segregate your cupboards and fridge spaces.

make signs for yourself to keep you from cheating! Make sure you do detox baths and go slowly when you have die off. Get some activated charcoal on hand in case of super severe die off, a few caps will help. Enemas aren't fun ,but they make a big difference in moving toxins out as well.

another great site is Bee's candida site.

Also, truly raw honey is beneficial after you've been on the diet for a few weeks or more. It has anti-microbial properties.

I wouldn't recommend Agave even though many sites do. It has other things about it that just seem really off to me. nothing to back that particular nugget up, but ya know.

I did a 10-week version with a lot of success. It got rid of my yeast issues and it helped me shed 15 lbs. of baby weight. Once I was done with the diet I transitioned to more of a traditional foods/whole food diet. I added grains back in slowly and only soaked at first to help my body transition.

I would recommend giving it a shot. Just make sure you plan out lots of foods to eat ahead of time. The first few days were awful when I was really really hungry and hadn't figured out what to snack on throughout the day! I found homemade sweet potato chips in the oven were my saving grace.

Thanks for your responses - it's the first few days that I am really worried about and scared that I'll crack but then i guess I'mm never find out unless I actually do the diet and hopefully by feeling better by the end of it will make it all worthwhile. I've looked up the raw honey interesting what it says though. So how long did it take you to introduce things back into your diet - if you did at all?

the first few days were super rough for me...but it got better. i combined it with an anti-candida supplement using garlic and oil of oregano from my ND.
it made a huge difference in how i felt and i only really stuck with it for about 6 weeks but my cramps and pms issues have been forever improved. epsom baths were helpful.
when it looks overwhelming, i try to ease into it. cut out the obvious i also used a small serving of good brown rice a bit in the beginning as my die off was extreme.

My MIL did it. She said that, yes it's hard but totally worth it. It wasn't THAT hard for her because the one she did let her snack on almonds and she likes them...

But yeah, she discovered a few allergies that way.
