weird reaction...allergic?

Ok, I have had this weird reaction about 5 times or so. The last time I had it was maybe 2-3 years ago and then I had it this morning.

Here are the particulars of the reaction. It always happens in the morning after eating breakfast. I get a red hot, slightly swollen and itchy/picky reaction. It only occurs on my knees, elbows, wrists/top of hands, ears, and then if it is bad it spreads to my forearms and upper arms. I also get all jumpy, but I believe that is just my nerves because it worries me. Today when it happened I was talking on the phone with my mom and laying on my left side when the reaction started. My reaction is WAY worse on my left side than my right today.

Before I thought the common thread was eggs. I was tested for eggs and it was negative, but that doesn't mean anything. But, even though I thought it was eggs, there was one time that I reacted and hadn't had any eggs. Also, there were plenty of times that I ate eggs either in the morning or for dinner when it didn't happen. I don't eat eggs in the morning just to be safe. Now, I am thinking perhaps it has something to do with my vitamins. I always take them in the morning after breakfast. Of course, there are tons of times that I take them and don't have a reaction, but I take Rainbow Light and they are food based, so perhaps they are not uniform. Maybe it is some sort of vitamin overload. Perhaps before I was eating the eggs and taking the vitamins and having some sort of reaction to the vitamin overload. This morning I had oatmeal with a pat of butter and nutritional yeast. I don't measure the nutritional yeast. This is usually what I have for breakfast. I also generally have a piece of fruit, I just hadn't gotten to that yet this morning

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

This is a common reaction to B vits, particularly niacin aka 'the niacin flush'.

I have also had this reaction to calcium supplements, when I was very low in magnesium.

Jane--Thanks so much for your reply! I am glad to know there is an explanation for it. I guess if I took my prenatals throughout the day instead of all at once it could help? I suppose niacin is water soluble?
