I've never washed my wool cover and now there's poop on it, HELP!

I've been using my wool cover at night for about a month. I've never washed it It's been working great this whole time. Last night, sweetie had a poop explosion and some of the poop got on the cover. I have no idea how to clean it. I need some help

I tend to toss it in the wash tub in some warm water with a little wool wash in it. Let it soak 20-30 minutes, most of the poop will float away. Then I gently rub the area with my fingers to get any left off. Rinse in the same fashion (soak in warm water). Then if you're going to lanolize, do that after the rinse.

Poo does tend to stain my covers this way, but I feel like I get all the yuckies out of it without felting. And I just stick them in the sun for a bit to deal with the stains.
