Babymoon over - sleep?

Aurelie is 2.5w now and does not seem to sleep much during the day. In the beginning, of course it was feed nap, feed nap. Now if she sleeps at all during the day it's change, BF, fuss or cry in the co-sleeper, carried around in the Ergo by DH until asleep (which is about 5 minutes before she has to be woken for another feed). I've just gotten back enough energy to use the Moby and/or rock her in the glider, etc., but this is just all day long. She's content when carried. I read the "baby can't be put down thread", but wasn't sure if this group was napping while being held or put in a bed.

Is anyone else in the same boat or had kids like this? I can't remember what DS was like, but I think he typically nursed to sleep and stayed.

Night sleep is better with 3 to 4 (one 5!) hour stretches between feeds with her sleeping in the cosleeper.

Yep. Same here. Dd is 3.5w and is much more awake than before. When awake she is mostly fussing. Not full-on screaming like my ds (colic!) but just general baby fussiness and squirming. I can deal with it if it's not that heart breaking screaming. She is sleeping about the same at night with one 4 hour stretch in the beginning of the night; then nursing about every 2 hours till morning. I'm tired! Dd is content to be in the Moby so most of the day she is carried. I can put her down for a nap about once a day whenever she is sleeping deeply (random times). Dd has had some episodes of projectile vomiting so mostly sleeps upright on my chest for now, so I'm not sleeping as deeply as I'd like. But it's better than changing the whole bed (and us) at 2am.

my ds is the same - does not sleep as much during the day as i would like, because he is fussy usually when awake, like henny penny said....it's just squirminess and what not. However, DS only likes to be carried if I am moving, and a large part of my job is working on the computer, so I can't get any work in unless DS is sleeping. DS is a good night sleeper though, so I guess that's a good thing!

However, DS must sleep in bed RIGHT NEXT to me. I guess that's another thread all together, but I really miss being held by my DH....even for just a few minutes! I am not able to put DS to bed and then leave...

I was the one who started the "can't put baby down" thread- lol. My DD is also very fussy when awake, and has long "awake" periods during the day, but she sleeps decently at night (one 3-4 hour stretch from 11-2 or 3) and then wakes again around 6ish and back to bed until 8 or 9. She is very gassy at night so I don't sleep much, but she also takes one or two long naps each day when I can nurse her on the bed and then slip away to get some things done- or nap with her! Her shorter naps she has to be held or in the car or she'll wake up.

It's good to know that this fussiness while awake is common- I nurse her when she wakes up, then she pees (we are ECing part time so the peeing has a LOT to do with her fussing, especially if she pees in her diaper and is wet) but I cannot figure out what the in between squirming and fussing is all about. I think she really just wants me to walk and bounce all day, which I can't do, I'm too exhausted LOL! It definitely gets better though, around 2-3 months old if I recall.

Oh, good. It's not just us then! I'm also glad to hear that I'm not the only one who finds it all so exhausting.

It looks like the trade off is longer night sleep periods. Yesterday evening I was able lie down with her and nap after nursing and then she slept from 10pm-3am then 3:30am-6am. I feel like a new person!

I've started to write down whenever she naps in the bassinet during the day. DH was actually able to put DD down to sleep for half hour to an hour several times yesterday (after walking her around in the Ergo). So maybe it's not as bad as I thought.

DDC Crashing

Is it still crashing since my baby ended up being born in May?

We're going through the same thing over here. DS2 is 5 weeks & takes a zillion 5-30 minute naps during the day but will sleep 4-8 hr stretches in his bed at night. DS1 was the same way. It's miserable! 3 1/2 y/o DS1 is really suffering because I am nursing, rocking, slinging and shushing DS2 all. day. long!!! I don't have any time for DS1 so he is acting out like crazy. DS1 is also in the process of giving up his nap so he is doubly cranky right now. All this makes for one miserable mama. It was so bad today that I told DH I was packing my stuff and leaving as soon as he got home this afternoon. Once I came to my senses, I realized that saying something like that meant that I was definitely back in PPD land (did the exact same thing with DS1, only it got to the point to where I DID pack a bag and try to bail. DH physically kept me from leaving and took me to the Dr the next day). I'm making a Dr's appt to get back on Zoloft next week.
