Knickernappies Super Do insert.

How do you use this insert? I bought two to try it out for overnight, but when I put it in a pocket (BG OS 3.0) it leaked, which resulted in a 5 am diaper change...and therefore a 5 am wake up.

So hoping to make these work. Thoughts?

I have 2 of these... I had to prep them (because of the hemp in them) and I could never use them in BGs. I use them in Fuzzi Bunz with no problem, I think because the cut through the crotch was wider? I dunno... did you wash them a bunch before using them? One other problem I found was that if I didn't get the diaper on just right the thickness/stiffness of the insert made the legs gap weird, could that be part of it?

Oh, that stinks! IME i've never been able to use pockets at nite. I second prepping them several times. How do you feel about pf's? Maybe a pf w/ the super do and a fleece liner would work for ya...

hang in there!

We've used one overnight with a homemade diaper, outer PUL, inner sweatshirt fleece. Also in a Swaddlebees, I think, it's fleece inner, PUL outer. I've also stuffed them in a Thirsties pocket, but did not use it overnight. I only washed them once before using them.

Supposedly you can use them right away, so that's what I did. I've since washed them, but just once. Well, once on cold, once hot, in my usual dipe routine.

Wouldn't a super-do plus a PF be HUGE? I have a few PFs, but would need something to make it stay-dry. I have no fleece liners. Maybe those would work. The Bummis ones are too small though.

Cotton Babies insert sock?

All I have are BG 3.0s and Flip covers right now. But I really want to find cloth that works overnight, all night, without a diaper change.

We don't change at night anymore, and both my boys sleep 12+ hours a night. We use a Fuzzi Bunz with either a Super Do or one hemp and one MF insert. We have occasional leaks, but the majority of the time we have no issues with it.

We use pf's almost exclusively, so maybe my judgment is a bit skewed It will definitely be bigger than a fitted, but if you wanted to try it, you might look into different folds. I saw one where you twist the pf between the legs to give a trimmer fit. Anyways, this is probly just a last resort kinda thing for you

sorry i'm not more help....good luck though!

oh, for the stay dry layer, we just got some fleece and cut our own. you don't have to finish the edges cause it doesn't fray!! woo hooo!

So...what is the difference between BG and Fuzzi Bunz? I mean, both are pockets that must be stuffed. I have six "limited edition" fleece-lined BG 3.0s. That's what I used originally that leaked. Aren't FB lined with fleece? What does Fuzzi Bunz do that BG doesn't?

Cutting my own fleece sounds like a neat idea, and since I don't sew, it sounds easy. Is there thin fleece? All I recall seeing at the craft store is the thick, patterned fleece that people use to make kids' blankets.

You can find thinner fleece at fabric stores. You could also try stuffing the thinner of the BG inserts into the middle of the loop.

You need to find the right fleece. Not all fleece is the same. Polar fleece is what is used to make diaper covers, and as an inner will cause more leaks. You want microfleece, which can be difficult to find if all you have locally is a Joann's or something similar.

Cristeen is right, GENERALLY people use microfleece for staydry liners. BUT, you can also use regular blizzard/polar fleece too. I didn't know you could use it until recently I was going to buy some premade staydry liners and discovered that GMD sells Malden Mills Polar Fleece liners. It's only one layer, 200 wt.

So, I had some polar fleece already (just from JoAnn's) and decided to try it. It worked great. Bummis makes their liners from Microfleece, but GMD says the Polar Fleece is actually better because it will stand up to more washings and is easier to handle.

Another fabric often used for stay dry liners is Microsuede, or "Suedecloth". I think they're the same (someone correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not sure if the edges will frey cause I've not used it before.

OH!!! If you do want to use Microfleece, Hancocks has it on sale 50% off right now and you can get FREE shipping w/ this code: HKFEMAILSIGNUP
I just bought some yesterday

Great idea! I will try this. I tried the Superdo + a Flip staydry insert in a Flip cover and did not have leaks. But the dipe was pretty darn big. I had to open it up to large, when normally she's on the middle snap setting. Now maybe I can have a use for all those little newborn inserts. What a great way to just add a little more to the SuperDo without the bulk of a whole insert.

We have a Hancock's here! I will take a look. I think I recently got a mailer from them about this sale.

I also got a few Cotton Babies insert socks to try. These would be much more DH friendly than wrapping numerous inserts in fleece. I could just stuff the socks for him. If it's not fairly easy he won't like it.

I did the same thing when I bought mine (well, it says you can, doesn't it?!)... and they leaked!

After a few more washes we were good. I wouldn't start trying other things until you wash (and dry) the inserts a few times.

ETA: We use FuzziBunz OS. I've never tried the Supe Do in a BGOS. The FBOS is actually very slightly too narrow in the crotch so the insert 'bellies' a bit but you just have to make sure that the 'belly' is pressed against the stay-dry layer NOT the PUL layer. I stuff with my hand between the insert and the PUL so the insert is flush up against the stay-dry when I'm done. If there's air space between the stay-dry and the insert the diaper will leak.

I tried this and got nothing but headaches and leaks. The dipe would be dry where the fleece was and wet around the edges.
