Can I just say how much I our pediatrician? We went through 3 peds (up to a 45 minute drive away!) before we stumbled upon this one who was just opening a practice in our town. With DD, I couldn't get any peds to acknowledge her dairly intolerance. This ped, when we brought Sprout in for his reflux, actually suggested that I do some elimination!

Of course, I'm not going to yet. His symptoms aren't connected at all to my diet (that I can see) and we haven't seen any of the poop issues that gave it away with DD.

We're nearly 36 hours out from the switch to Prevacid. There's been a definite improvement -- not quite normal, but not the panic-inducing oddness of Thursday night and Friday. That's a huge relief.

Went to a friend's baby shower this afternoon and WOW I was the odd one out! They were all talking about their emergency c/s's and how they couldn't wait to schedule the next one so they wouldn't go through that again all while shoving bottles in their babies mouths and talking about their babies' allergies and constant rashes and ear infections. Feeling outnumbered, I pretty much sat in the corner and nursed DS2 in the sling but I definitely wanted to jump in with comments about my homebirth, nursing, cloth dipes, etc. I don't consider myself very "crunchy" until I get in a group of other local moms.

triony - 45 min naps are pretty normal. With DD1 that was about the length of her naps for her entire 1st year. Kelsey has been taking some longer naps and it seems weird to me! She ends up usually taking several small ones and one long one since we're always running around somewhere.
Today started off great - DD2 and I slept in until 10:30, but has gone downhill. I took DD1 out shopping for a couple of hours and she just drove me nuts, got home and DD2 was fussy and still isn't asleep for the night.....and I just can't really relax until they are both asleep so I'm still feeling on edge and *done* with kids. Hopefully she'll fall asleep soon.

I still don't understand this idea of babies who go to sleep before their parents. L will only sleep either ON me, or in a carrier ON me, or ON my husband. Occasionally in the swing, but that's generally only a morning thing, or maybe if she's fallen asleep ON us and been transferred.

Basically, I'm jealous of people who have babies who sleep without being ON them.

I frequently go to bed before she does

We had a baby who went to sleep before us for a few weeks and it was AMAZING! Now not only will she only nap on me (or very, very occasionally in her swing) after nursing to sleep, if I don't move a muscle, but she will only sleep at night if I nestle down with her in the bed and nurse her off and don't move. Then I can sometimes get up and sneak away but now I'm so tired that I usually just read in bed and go to sleep early.
You'd think that since I'm asleep by 11 every night at the latest, I would feel better rested. But no - 2 nursing wake ups per night, plus a thrashing baby from 5am on that will only relax or stay sleeping if I nurse her every 15 minutes. I truly feel like it is never going to get better though I tell myself it's just a phase, just a phase, just a phase.

Last night DH promised to get up with her for the first feed (she's cosleeping with us again but I was hoping he would take her into her crib so I wouldn't hear her every noise) but when she woke up to feed, I couldn't get him to wake up. Turns out he overdid it (yard work + sunburn + not enough food and water + too much beer) and even ended up getting up to throw up in the morning. So, instead of a break during the night and some help when she starts making noise and thrashing, and changing dirty diapers, I got a drunky husband who I felt afraid would roll on the baby if I actually put her anywhere near him

Luckily he rarely drinks but this is just unacceptable. He's apologized a lot today but I already feel like our marriage is suffering... UGH!
