what other sci fi shows would i like?
You did watch the entire series of "Firefly" as well right? If not, please do.

We also loved "Torchwood" by Russell T. Davies who brought Dr. Who back (in quite a fabulous way, I might say). Torchwood is pretty dark while Dr. Who can be intense, goofy and darn-right over the top, but we love it anyway.

And,(I take a breath), Battle Star Galactica is an incredible show as well if by chance you missed it.

We love sci-fi in our house... I am sure there is more but I am a wee bit fried.

Have fun.

Ok. I was worried that somehow you missed "Firefly". What a relief! I totally understand the loss of a working mind.... right there with ya!

My dh loves "Eureka" and "Star Gate the Universe" too. I have seen a few, but have not totally gotten into them.

I second Battle Star Galactica. In the beginning, on Caprica, when Laura Roslin is getting her results from the Dr, look at the windows above her and you can see a Firefly landing. Galactica also makes a brief appearance in Serenity as a Reaver ship.

I'm not a Dr. Who fan, but others seem to love it.

Doll House is written by Joss Weadon and pretty good.

There's always old school Joss with Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. (I'm kinda a Joss Weadon fangirl)

Not Sci-Fi, but I enjoy Nathan Fillion (Mal) in Castle.

Not television, but you'd probably enjoy the Vorkosigan series by Lois McMaster Bujold and the Taylor's Ark series by Jody Lynn Nye.

I enjoyed Doll House and Castle, but I just could not commit the time to them so I missed a lot. But what I saw was really good.

KristyDi... thanks for the spaceship trivia.

I loved Firefly. Shows I also like:

Doctor Who
Battlestar Galactica
Merlin
Eureka
House, M.D.
Lie to Me
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Castle

Dh is a huge Farscape fan.

I loved the newer Battlestar Galactica series. I also loved Firefly. Did you see the follow up film Serenity?

I also liked Farscape and Stargate Atlantis.

Morena Baccarin (Inara) is on the new remake of "V" on ABC. She's very evil and manipulative in her role as the leader of an alien race.

However, nothing comes close to Firefly. Nothing.

No kidding! I love how some of my fave sci-fi series give props to others. Warms by heart(as does Nathan Fillion)

I was going to suggest farscape too.
I love Castle. Nathan Fillion being all charming is almost Firefly methadone. There's a Halloween episode where he wears his "space cowboy" costume that will look familiar.

Farscape would be the best parallel to Firefly. We got the full set of DVDs recently for a really good price.

We're totally a sci-fi family. Here's what we've loved, in addition to Firefly:

Buffy
Angel
Battlestar Galactica
X-files
Warehouse 13
Supernatural
V (Both old and new)
All the Star Treks (I like Voyager best.)
Hex (on BBC)
Spaced (an older series with Simon Pegg from Great Britain) (We love Simon Pegg too!)

Dh and Ds really like Stargate Universe.

i tried to watch battlestar galactica but it was kinda stiff...i like some humor does it get better after the first episode?

Babylon 5 was (mostly) a great show no one's mentioned yet.

The just-finished Lost is a phenomenal series. I don't know if everyone considers it sci-fi, but I would.

I like the Star Trek series too, especially Voyager.

Yes! I loved Babylon 5 and while LOST was frustrating at times, it was an enjoyable ride while it was on.

and his daughter calls him Captain Tightpants. We were squealing with glee!

I second many of the rec's already given here.

Warehouse 13 actually developed some of the same nice quirky cast vibe that Whedon's so great at. I'm excited about the new season starting back up. (hhmm, did I miss that? Better check...)

I definitely recommend Farscape. I also loved Stargate SG-1

The first season of Caprica was excellent, and I have really enjoyed Sanctuary as well.
