Methylprednisolome and nursing three year old

I have hives that refuse to go away with zyrtec...so my allergist wants me to take medrol pack. My son is three and barely nursing...just at night. I saw a lot of posts when I did a search that it's okay but I guess I need some hand holding and a little reassurance here. The first day is 24mg then drop one pill a day (4mg). This is just for six days. Thoughts?

It's absolutely fine. I had several high dose methylprednisolone sessions of 1000 mg per day for a few days at a time. DD was nursing 4 times a day. I had to delay her nursing after the dose but it worked out well overall.
DR. Hale's forum has several entries on it and he says it is fine also.
I hope you feel better soon!

Thank You! What I am now concerned about is getting a yeast infection as a result...I definitely do not want to deal with that! I just got over a BV that was recurring for a while so I'd like to avoid that...thoughts on that?

I never even thought of yeast infections, lol. I guess because the steroids affect your immune system, is that why you could get one? If you just ot over BV, you should be careful, I think.
Maybe take a probiotic and eat yogurt? My immune system is overactive so I never got sick or anything.
They do have us eat bananas and citrus fruits and take potassium if the bloodwork shows any issue with the metabolic panel.

I do not have hives at this time, just one on my back that is fading. I'm not suffering so to speak and I found out I am not allergic to any food (from my allergist). Just cannot decide weather or not to take it and realize this is just a temporary fix anyway. From what I understand, there is no "cure" for hives, so what is the point anyway. After six days of taking this, my hives could just come back and I cannot figure out what is causing it. No new soaps or products same everything - and everything I use, I have been using for a long time with no issues, until now! Ugh...
