difference ectopic vs implantation pain?

hi ladies

We were not TTC but had a condom failure a week ago, which I believe coincided with ovulation more or less. Last night I started to have a sharp pain on the right side which turned into a more diffuse cramping, was doubled over with abdominal pain, could not stand up-- I thought I had food poisoning but the vomiting etc. never started. Then I realized what I was feeling was closer to severe menstrual cramps (which I have not had since I was a teen).

I took some advil and managed to fall asleep, feel better this morning with mild/ moderate cramping. Severe cramping lasted about 6 hours.

Basically my question is-- does this sound like an ectopic pregnancy? I would like to avoid going to the dr for now so only want to go in if it might be ectopic. Would I have the sharp/ then diffuse/ subsiding pain with ectopic? Wouldn't it be getting worse and worse? Also would 7 days past conception be too soon to be feeling ectopic pain?

Many many thanks... if i am pregnant I will be pleasantly surprised since we were TTA but my main concern right now is ectopic.

TIA!

I don't know for sure, nor from experience but that does sound rather early for ectopic pain. It could be implantation, a cyst, new follicles forming--could be lots of things.

But I just realized your post was almost a week ago. Any new developments?

If it were ectopic, it shouldn't be causing that kind of pain only a week past ovulation. How are you feeling now?
