Try taking 1, or 1/2 x2/day, and see if you feel better. The deal is that if you really need the folate, and your methylation has been seriously clogged because you don't have it, then when you start to get things moving, there's lots of old garbage to clear out. That makes you not feel great! Taking it slow with adding the new vites should decrease the downsides.
Ill try that and see how it goes....So If this improves the both of us, it means it is the folate and it's too much too soon due to crapped up methylation/detox. If this does NOT improve things than does that mean that it is most likely the b12 and a problem with methyl groups and not the folate?

If things do improve.....how long would we stay at that dose before we tried upping it a bit. I know the idea is to start low and go slow but HOW slow?? weeks, months??

And thanks again for your guidance!

Yup, that seems like a good guess, but give it a week or so before you decide if reducing folate helped.

I increase dose every 6 days (because I mix supps that often). I do the first 2-3 increases very gradually (e.g. only a small increase), after that I can usually ramp up faster. Let reactions guide you - if you get a stronger reaction than you want to deal with, back off. Do the increases when you're in a good place to handle the reaction (two parents, or quiet days coming up, or whatever).

will do...Ill see how this next week goes on reduced thornes and b12...

if I (and ds) are not taking a full dose of the multis...won't we be NOT getting what we need in other things (vits/minerals) at least until we reach a full dose?

If you're eating a reasonably healthy diet, I wouldn't worry at all for a few weeks (unless you are actually pregnant, which wouldn't be ideal while you're ramping up the folate, mostly because of the toxins you may be stirring up).

nope not pg...but TTC. Hmmm seems like now isn't the time to be stirring things up in case I do conceive, however it also seems like the folate thing is a real issue and I want to avoid any midline defects like in DS.....kind of a catch 22 no?

I personally would consider taking a month break from TTC, and get the folate on board (for the midline defects, exactly - and early on in your pg is really important for that). I'd guess it won't take you more than a month to get the folate added in and not be seeing detox from it - but right during the time where you're moving stuff around probably isn't ideal for getting pg.

I hear you . However, I don't think it would be a long delay, and it could be a hugely beneficial one.

ok.....I'm so confused....

DS has definitely been more hyper, whiny and generally "wild". I had decreased the thorne to 2 of the 6, but continued with the b-12. I'm wondering if the problem is with the b12 rather than the folate??

Should I just cut them both out for a few days, get back to baseline and then start 1 at a time?? AHHHHHHHHHHH I just want to figure this out already!!!!
