A Super Newbie Question

This feels like such a dumb question, but I suppose we all have to start somewhere!

I just got my supply of prefolds, wipes, and Flip covers in the mail. I'm about to throw the prefolds and wipes in the wash to start prepping them...I think 4-5 wash/dry cycles should be good. I was thinking I'd prewash the covers once and then line dry. They don't need "prepping" in the same sense, since the PUL is just to keep water in...right?

right. The prefolds have to have some gunk removed before they start absorbing. I think I just did 3-4 long, hot cycles. You want them to start smelling like fresh laundry or "nothing" rather than the slightly chemical/petroleum(?) scent you'll get if you bury your nose into one after the first cycle. Treat covers as gently as possible to keep the waterproofing strong -- they'll last longest if handwashed or washed on gentle and hung to dry (not that you have to be that careful, just that it would extend the covers' lifes if you were to do that).

okay I have to ask too...since I'm a newbie as well. I just prepped my one size FuzziBunz and the inserts this afternoon. I soaked them in OxyClean for 20 mins and then washed on warm/cold rinse (my warm water is really really warm no matter how much I adjust our water heater...I felt hot would be scalding) with some free and clear detergent. I'm going to dry on low heat until dry. I don't have a line put up yet for clothes. Is this enough? I don't really have to wash them again do I? I'm just sorta winging it here!
