Where to look for "baby gear" reviews?

I'm expecting our first babe in December and am just starting to feel confident enough to start checking out all the stuff! Where do you look for good, knowledgeable reviews of all the car seats, high chairs, bike trailers, etc, out there? It's overwhelming!

We're going to try to keep things pretty minimal, but if I'm going to spend money on even one item of baby gear, I want it to work for us.

Suggestions?

I really like the Baby Bargains book, and I know they have a website with forums, so you could Google that.

I also found the user reviews on Amazon and Target.com to be helpful.

For strollers and such I check all over- amazon, babies r us, etc.

Carseats I do my own research as no reviews I've found really take the important things into consideration.

amazon & other retailers...

...but I have also come to find mothering.com to be an excellent resource & my preferred place. all of these moms, like minded, in one place...it's a jackpot of opinions. i will often use the search function for a specific product or category of product & read up.

i WISH i had know about mothering.com when i was expecting dd1. i only knew about the major retailers & there were a few things i would have done differently. (register for cloth diapers, california baby body products)

Baby Bargain Book is good. I also checked out reviews from BRU and Target. I also asked new moms in my church.

I also used the Baby Bargains book. It's a great resource. When I was creating my registry I used the BB book and made a spreadsheet. I then took it with me to BRU and only registered for what was on the spreadsheet. I was in and out of the store in an hour.

I used the babies r us website and amazon.com website but those only go over products that they sell. The best info I got from canvassing every mom I could find. Best recommendation hands-down from them was the ergo baby carrier. Good luck figuring everything out!

I obsessively read the reviews on Amazon and BRU for months when I was pregnant with DS. They are pretty useful, especially if you read a few and see that one product has the same problem mentioned over and over again. You can learn what to avoid.

Thanks everyone! Good suggestions. I didn't know about Baby Bargains!

ellairiesmom You're absolutely right about MDC. I should definitely look up products here before I start the larger hunt.
