He can't eat anything!

OK... I know that isn't true... but I'm feeling a little overwhelmed right now. We are cutting out foods from Toads diet that came up moderately-very high reaction on his IgG testing. So gluten, dairy (including goat), soy, egg, corn, yeast and peanuts (plus cranberry and pineapple which he wasn't usually fond of anyway).

I just found this site http://www.cornallergens.com/list/co...ergen-list.php and while I've done gluten free for him before and I know the importance of label reading and knowing your variations/hidden ingredients this has me totally overwhelmed. Plus dairy (he showed positive to both casein and whey as well as all foods like cheese, yogurt etc they tested for). And egg. And yeast. It seems like one or more of them are in EVERYTHING.

OK... we have recently switched from vegetarian to omnivore with local grass fed meats so that helps. He can have most fruits and all vegetables except corn.

But even our toothpaste has xylitol (corn) in it! *holy moly*

Some hugs and talking me down would be appreciated

Yes, corn allergies STINK! Big time! But your list is really manageable. How bad was the reaction to corn? Some people don't need to take it all the way down like the lists on the corn allergy website do. It freaked the heck out of me too when we first found out. Take a deep breath, it'll all work out.

Big hug! You may need to explore new cookbooks and adjust your pantry but it can be done. Our list includes everything on yours plus more, and it took me a few weeks to reorientate. But the great thing is my LO's rashes are subsiding naturally for the first time in months, and he's actually putting on weight! Almost a kg in a month! It can be done, and when you're on the right track, it's totally worth it.

What do you miss, and we'll see if we can re-create it for you. I even made corn dogs for DS last week (with millet flour and some other things). Yes, it's different, but it sure is healthier! We've been doing it for 2 years now and it's easier now than when we started, that's for sure. I even read labels on DH and DD1's things (and it grosses me out).

And my corn-free DS uses Xyliwhite, which he seems to tolerate just fine. Maybe because it's brush and spit. Some xylitol is from birch, so you'd have to call and ask what the source is. Also my kids can tolerate ascorbic acid, but not citric acid. But that's after taking it all out, and then adding back in to see what can be tolerated.

going thru the same thing right now with my DS. It is overwhelming I know. It takes time to adjust.

Corn came up as mild for DS, so I try and rotate it every 5 days, but he has the rest of the things you listed (except dairy but I have my suspicions on this) and he also has mild reactions to many of the gluten free alternatives like tapioca and corn and millet came up as severe. This limits many of the gluten free things.

What helps me is I have to emind myself we are doing the best we can and with time and practice we will figure it all out. If I expect myself to be perfect with this from the start, Ill go off the deep end

BTW have you (or anyone) found a good altrenative to eggs to use in recepies??

It depends on the recipe... I use flax eggs sometimes (1 Tbs. ground flax + 3 Tbs. hot water - let sit for 10 minutes and it turns into a gelled mass). I also have a safe gum (karaya gum to use in place of xanthan gum [made from corn] or guar gum [DS just got this one back, so we're still rotating it]) that I use in some recipes. There's an Ener-G egg replacer, but I'm not sure what's in it since we can't have it.
