WWYD: Dental Work and 2WW?

I really need a crown - which means anesthetic. I think I've had all (or mostly all) of the xrays I would need.

The appointment would be the day I am about 9DPO. We've been TTC.

The dentist is aware of the situation and is ok with going ahead, but I'm not 100% comfortable. However, I don't have anything on which to base that.

Would YOU feel comfortable with the procedure? If I wait till I can test and find out I AM preggers then I definitely would delay the procedure by that point as the 1st tri will be commencing.

I can't decide if there is much, if any, risk to a possible fetus at this point.

Anyone know if blood supply establishes immediately on implantation?

I wouldnt think twice about it as long as local is all that is used.

the blood supply does not connect till weeks into a pregnancy so that is not an issue.

the only thing that i would be concerned about is exposure to nitrous oxide, it has been shown possibly to trigger early miscarriages. i had a dental hygienist friend that had to go do temp work while preggo so she was not exposed to the stuff that leaked into the air in the office.
the other issue is things being released into your blood stream, but i think that its better now than later when you are preggo and now is sort of a of a all or nothing with a implantation.
i would get it done and get it sooner rather than later.

The vast majority of all the dental work I've had done has been while pregnant. Not a problem at all!

I'm about 6 or 7 weeks pregnant and have just had 2 wisdom teeth removed at 5 weeks because they got badly infected.

They usually would prefer to wait until you are in your second trimester to do any dental work UNLESS if it's an emergency or you just can't wait that long because of pain or whatever else. Mine was an emergency so I had to do it.

They will not knock you out for the procedure if you are pregnant. You will only get novocaine shots into your gums/mouth to numb it. You can get x-rays. They will cover you up with 2 shields. My Dr. said I would be exposed to more radiation on an airplane than from getting my teeth x-rayed.

You could always have the Dentist call your OBGYN or midwife and together they can decide what would be best for you at this time in your pregnancy.

Good luck!!!!
