Give me your best chicken coop plans!

We're going to be building our home this year (hopefully soon! Waiting on finances.....)

Anyway, we've got the time and some supplies to build a coop now, so I wanted to start looking for plans. We have a group of 5 adults, 13 'adolescent' chicks, and a bantam hen with 5 chicks. Those numbers always seem to dwindle for whatever reason though. I guess plan for the best, it's better off too big than too small!

Just looking for something stationary for now, but tractor plans would be appreciated too. Definitely want one down the road. Thanks mamas!

What about a hoophouse tractor? We use old vinyl billboard tarps for ours, but I don't know about your weather.

Here's my chicken coop: link It's about 6' x 12' and currently houses 4 2-month-old hens. I think it could be a comfortable home for as many as 6, or more if you have mild winters and the hens would be able to free range in all seasons. We have cold winters, so I'm keeping the population low so that they have enough space when they're shut in during the winter.

It's sort of a combination of several plans I liked (the garden coop and the playhouse coop), but we mostly made it up as we went along. We actually call it the "Chicken Mansion", since it ended up being so nice. But the coop is visible from the road (and our neighborhood is an odd mix of hillbillies and upper-middle class), and I wanted it to match our Craftsman style home. We're definitely taking it with us when we move to our rural dream property...!

Diana, I LOVE your coop! I will be building one this coming spring, and yours looks pretty much exactly how I would like mine to be.
