Stressing about TTC due to vacation next summer

I am planning on going abroad next August for a vacation. I don't think I would want to go if I my baby is less than 3 months old. Would you?

And I wouldn't want to go if I was pregnant either, because I would worry about miscarrying if I was 1-3 months due to the stress of it, and then worry about getting sick out there which might cause a miscarriage also, and then you aren't allowed on a plane if you are a certain number of months...is it 6 months?

This means I need to conceive by August this year at the latest, so the baby would be due no later than May 2011, meaning it would be 3 months old by the vacation time in August 2011. So I only have June, July and August this year to TTC... and if It doesn't happen, then I have to wait a whole year -until next August when we get back from vacation to resume TTC again

What are your thoughts on this? Would you rather not be pregnant during the vacation, and not want to take a baby under 3 months old?

I would rather go pregnant.

No, traveling does not increase your risk of a miscarriage (nor does flying)
If the area you are going to is not somewhere with tropical diseases I would not worry about it at all (and if it is, I wouldn't want to go... especially with a small infant!)

And you can fly well past 6 months. Most airlines cut you off at 36 weeks unless you have a recent Dr.s note (8 months) but US Airways, whom I am flying with tomorrow, cuts you off 7 days before you are expected to have the baby (except with the Dr.s OK). Airlines tend to be extremely accommodating and each airline should have a section on their own website that tells you what their own policy is on flying while pregnant, both domestic and international.

The only thing about flying pregnant is you don't want to do it if you do have a risk of suddenly going into premature labor, but the majority of women who do have warning signs beforehand. Just talk to your doctor about that when/if it becomes an issue.

Otherwise... flying and traveling while pregnant is, in most cases, perfectly fine to do.

I'm with MP.
Personally, given the choice between vaca pg or vaca w/ a babe... I'd rather go pregnant than with a baby... of any age

I traveled internationally during my first tri w/ my youngest. It was really no biggie. In fact, it was a nice excuse to sleep in and relax away the blahs of the first tri.

W/ my DS, I flew at 36ish weeks. I thought for sure it was going to put me into labor. It didn't.

A small amendment to the statement re: m/c... when I was looking into it, it seems like there might be a small increase in risk if you fly and un-pressurized cabin plane (which I did, which was why I was looking). Those are the tiny lower flying ones, tho, not commercial airplanes, and, like I said, the theoretic risks didn't convince me not to do it and I'm pretty dang cautious w/ my pregnancies.

It's going to be a hot beach vacation though, so I really don't think I would enjoy it either being pregnant.

I'm leaning more towards TTC until August, then wait a year....I know the waiting is tough but I really want this holiday for myself and dd. It's not for another 14 months but we are already really looking forward to it.

But then I really want to TTC and have a second child too....agh

I would enjoy the beach more pregnant than anything... especially the being-in-the-water part. Having just moved to NC today, the beach is the one thing I am looking forward to most!

I am at 7 weeks and just got back from a week at the beach. It was awful! I wish I had stayed home away from the strong fish smells, salty water and hot sand. A friend that was with us is in her second trimester and had a GREAT time. I guess every person's experience is different.
