Curse you, Outlander fans!

Curse you, I say! Last year I checked out Outlander from the library but never got into it - I got as far as her crossing into the stones and lost interest (yes, I can hear your gasps from here). Didn't think twice about it, but it always seemed like there was some fan thread or book club going on and on and on about how great the series is, so I grudgingly bought it for my Kindle figuring I'd *have* to read it then since I spent money on it - I'm now halfway through book 6. I don't have time for this! And it's all your fault!

LOL. My college roommate kept telling me I had to read the first one. I started it and was kind of Blah about it. Then I needed something to read in the bathtub and that's when the story started clicking along. The water was freezing cold by the time it occurred to me to get out.

The last one came out right around when DD2 was born. I started it but in the delirium of newbornville I misplaced it. I should go find it.

Hahahaha! I still re-read the 1st 3 at least once each year...they are just great.

There is no escape now! I think that, at times, I have known Jamie Fraser and Fraser's Ridge better than my own DH and my own home!

Yeah, I finished book 7 on Sunday so I'm starting over with book 1. And I swear someone on MDC said Echo in the Bone was the final book! No it's not! Now I have to wait another TWO YEARS (at minimum, there may even be a book 9) to find out what happens! Blast it!

I love them! Now I listen to the 1st 4 on my iPod (Davina Porter is an amazing narrator. Buy the unabridged versions she reads. You won't regret it) since I can do that and other things at the same time.

Then I read the rest. I've tried to get the digital unabridged versions Davina Porter reads, but they just aren't available. You can either get the abridged version read by someone else who isn't anywhere near as good or buy the cd versions for nearly $200.

For those who want to know what Diana Gabaldon's up to these days, and when she's going to finish the next book already, here is a link to her blog, Voyages of the Artemis. You're welcome.

Heh heh heh. It's the series that will never end. She's had a few different websites in the years since I first started reading Outlander, and there's always going to be just one more book, LOL. I do enjoy the stories and hope she keeps writing, but I don't think the more recent books can hold a candle to the first couple.

I have kind of a love/hate relationship with the Outlander books. So many people recommended the first one to me, that I finally started it. At first, it drove me nuts. The quotes were wrong, the distances were off, and I had to stop. Then, I picked it up again, the story became engrossing and I finished the first book and read the next three in quick succession. I stared AEITB when it came out and hung up about a third of the way through. Maybe I just have to get back in the mood.

I'm so jealous of people who've never read this series because they get to read them all for the very first time....swoon.

Ooohhh... be jealous of me then. I just bought the first book this week. I live under a rock and hadn't heard of this series before... and now I'm reading that there are 7+ books? Thank you! This should keep me busy for a long while!

7 currently and an 8th in the works. I thought they'd keep me busy for a long time, too, but they're so engrossing I never wanted to put them down! I was sick for a few days this winter and ended up reading Dragonfly In Amber in two days and then going out to the library with my laryngitis to get Voyager. Luckily the librarians there are really unfriendly so no one tried to talk to me.

VEEEERRRY jealous. You might think they'll keep you busy for a long time but once you get started you might just finish them before you know it!!! Lol.

I ended up finishing each of the last two in the weekend after their release.

Oh no! They are the kind of books you devour? I am the type that devours good books. And then I get all let down when there's nothing left to read. I started reading it last night before bed but didn't get very far before the sandman arrived.

I only heard of Outlander because of MDC, so last summer I bought the first and then was pretty much MIA from everyone and everything for a month or so. It took me a bit to get through the beginning of the first, but as soon as the stone stuff happened I was HOOKED!!!!

I'm now in the middle of the last book but I seem to be a bit stuck. It's not holding my attention very well at all. I hope it gets better. I took a quick break to read the last Sookie Stackhouse book and now am going to get back to Jamie and Claire!

Team Rollo! Love it!!!

Theia, enjoy!!!

Yes they are very good My friend got me hooked on them.

I got about 1/2 way through the newest one and had to take it back to the library! I wrote a note where I am so I can pick it back up when I get to check it out again.

Lol. I admit I had a bit of that problem with the last book too. It does pick back up and then you race to the end.
I had that feeling with the book over all. It felt like one part would be drudgery and then the next part was CHOCKED full of things to read about and then it would sloooow down again. The pace was off a bit, but worth getting towards the end. Some parts of the book just felt like I was having a history lesson shoved down my throat.

There's a very nice thread about the book here somewhere...just be careful of the spoilers.
