Literature based unit studies?

Does anyone here have a great source for literature based unit studies? I want it mostly to use classics or award winning novels, to concentrate on language arts and I would like it to be cheap or free.

Thanks in advance

They are going into 5th, 3rd and kindergarden. We haven't been able to find any useful and fun language arts. They both love reading novels, so I'm thinking that may be the way to get in some L.A. I found a curriculum that is Christian based, but I'm not Christian, It's called Total Language Plus. I'd love to find something similar that is secular, or find something that I can assemble (free online stuff). I've seen other programs that use passages from literature/novels, but not one that goes with the novel, chapter by chapter.

Sonlight is literature based. It is a Christian company, but I don't know how "religious" all the content is across subjects. I've read lots of good reviews on it.

Also, all the Five in A Row stuff, which is also Christian and very literature based. We have Before FIAR and I have found that I can easily pick and choose what to focus on and I could leave out the religious stuff if I wanted to.

I've just started gathering the sonrise books. Just the secular ones. There is a yahoo group for secular sonrise users. They made some recommendations on books about evolution since sonrise doesn't do that. I've been getting the books either at the library or used from amazon, half.com, barnes and noble, or borders. We won't be using the instructor's guides, just reading the books that work for our family.

There is also another called http://www.winterpromise.com/. They have a lot more options than sonlight so I was a bit overwhelmed, but they are a good resource for book titles.
