Any way to know hou effaced you are and how dialated

What it it suppose to feel like, my cervix is far back i can put one mabey 2 fingers in it if i tried. But how do i know how effaced i am? How is it suppose to feel in your cervix opening? i am currently 36 weeks and have never felt my cervix before, but i found it today but i dont know anything about it...

OK, well Dialtion is the size of the opening, so once you know how many fingers fit or how far you can spread them, then bring them out and just meassure that distance in centimeters.
Effacing is the thickness, or depth, of the cervix walls.

Be careful checking, you can introduce bacteria and such and get an infection. When does your provider check you?

I believe it is much safer to check yourself than to let your provider do it. These are your germs and you are already familer with them. You don't need a "professional" to tell you what is going on with your own cervix. (irked)

What you are really looking for is change and progression. So truly numbers are unimportant. See what is changing and when. After excersize, after sex, you can get familar and get ideas for, when it is closer to your time what will help you go into labor.

How are you reaching it? I have no problem finding mine when I am charting for fertility, but my cervix seemed to have vacated it's non-pregnant location. It is so high it is out of my reach.

Thanks a bunch Pat. If medical professionals agree that sex is OK all thorugh pregnancy, surely my own clean hand isn't some germy danger.
