Help! I cant get my 9 week old in the Ergo

I just got myself a nice new Ergo Sport with the infant insert. I watched the YouTube vidoes and I cant get it right, her legs are now too long to be 'forggied' and too short to straddle me...she screamed when I tried to fiddle around with her in it today.

How to I get past the inbetween stage until she is big enough to straddle?

We frequently froggy one leg and hang the other one out.

You might be surprised that even a little one can straddle without a problem. Their legs naturally splay. Give the straddling a try and see if she is comfortable- if she's not, she'll let you know!

Here's my then 4 week old straddled in a mei tai: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2709/...09fe5590_b.jpg

If it's really not working out, I would recommend purchasing another carrier. To successfully babywear, you really need more than one type of carrier. Different carriers have different strengths and baby may like one better one day and a different one the next. You want to be able to babywear all the time, not just when baby is happy with the one carrier you own. At 9 weeks, I used a wrap, a Beco, and a mei tai. Now I mostly use my mei tai while dh prefers the Beco. It's good to mix it up. Check out www.thebabywearer.com for great deals on used carriers! You can always sell if it's not working out! Keep experimenting until you find what works- that's the best advice I can give you and I wish someone had told me that with my first b/c I spent most of my days carrying her around in my arms since I believed she hated babywearing when in fact she hated my HotSling.

Did you check out this youtube video? It might give a better idea of how you're supposed to position baby in the insert. We had to use it until our LO was able to splay his legs at ~4months of age.
