You might be surprised that even a little one can straddle without a problem. Their legs naturally splay. Give the straddling a try and see if she is comfortable- if she's not, she'll let you know!

If it's really not working out, I would recommend purchasing another carrier. To successfully babywear, you really need more than one type of carrier. Different carriers have different strengths and baby may like one better one day and a different one the next. You want to be able to babywear all the time, not just when baby is happy with the one carrier you own. At 9 weeks, I used a wrap, a Beco, and a mei tai. Now I mostly use my mei tai while dh prefers the Beco. It's good to mix it up. Check out

Keep experimenting until you find what works- that's the best advice I can give you and I wish someone had told me that with my first b/c I spent most of my days carrying her around in my arms since I believed she hated babywearing when in fact she hated my HotSling.
