So where are they laying the eggs?

My 4 chickens free-range in a big yard -- almost 2 acres. Some of it is woods. They were all laying reliably then they started laying in different places. I've found two nests and am on the lookout for the other nests. Does anyone have advice on what kinds of places hens like to stash their eggs?

Same here suddenly.. I can only assume it is due to a rooster imbalance we should have fixed a few weeks ago. There has been chaos in the coop when I get out there (at 5am which generally wakes my baby).

So anyhow.. they are laying in variousl places. I check tall grass, under brush and trees. Basically any place which seems like a decent place to have a baby if you can put yourself in a chicken's place. Safe, quiet, out of plain sight.

Nothing like going out and finding a clutch of 75 eggs while we're getting by on 2 a day!

Yeah. I found 5 eggs in a little spot under the outdoor faucet. Sigh..

Really, anywhere somewhat covered. I've found nests in landscaping (under a prickly rose bush), in tall grass under the deck, in tall grass next to the garage, and under pine trees. They seem to prefer areas where at least one side is a solid object.
