just decided to make my own hummus for the first time & the tahini can i got doesn't say anything about storage after opening. i don't refrigerate my peanut butter, so i assume you'd treat it the same, but just thought i'd double check. any yummy tahini recipes greatly appreciated too!!!!!

yes; once you open it. i think my particular can of tahini says to refrigerate after opening. cannot hurt, at any rate, just makes it harder to stir.

oh, recipes: have you ever made or tasted halvah? mmmmm

I do refrigerate tahini but not peanut butter.

I never refrigerated it when I bought the kind in the can. Didn't seem necessary, and the can made no mention of it. But I recently bought some in a glass jar, and it says on the jar to refrigerate it. Not sure what I'll do when I open it.

The only reason I can think to refrigerate it is to avoid separation. I suppose if it were going to sit a long time it could go rancid, but mine never sits that long.

Oh and I never refrigerate nut butters either.
