Has anyone replaced leg elastics in BGs?

After saying on here several times over the past week how much I love my BGs, and how they're holding up well, I've had the 1.0s finally start to leak through the cover (knew that was coming...) and two of my four later-model (not sure if 2.0 or 3.0) have leg elastics that have just started to sag.

Argh. Microsuede is really the only material that DS can sleep in - I really don't want to buy new ones (although it would seem I might get a good deal...) - has anyone replaced the elastic? I know I can get a repair kit, but it looks like the elastic is sewn and encased? Looks tricky...

I have done it to all my older diapers. Just buy some elastic from the fabric store. turn the diaper inside out and use a seem ripper to open the end of where the elastic goes through and pull out the old elastic. then feed the new elastic (I doulbled mine) through. I taped the new elastic to long toothpic and fed it through like that. then machine stich it closed at desired length. Here is a tutorial I just found:

hope it helps! it is defnately worth it and the more you do, the faster you get at it.

I havent' done it, but the friend I gave our old 2.0s to is/has done it to all of them. She too said it was surprisingly easy - just slightly time consuming! Good luck!!

Just in case you aren't aware, you can get refresher kits for $1, free shipping, directly from cottonbabies website. It includes not only the elastic but the aplix tabs & laundry tabs. You could redo 24 dipes for $24.
