I gave my friend this anthology for her baby shower- http://www.amazon.com/20th-Century-C...7357592&sr=1-1

It has a bunch of classics from when we were kids- Goodnight Moon, Madeline, Curious George, Make Way for Duckings etc etc I recognized almost all the titles as childhood favorites. She told me they started reading it to him even before he was born, and now that he's 3, there's still plenty of good stories in there. Heck, I'd like to have a copy for myself!

my son has a box set of dr suess that he has loved since he was 4 months old.

I think they were part of the bright and early board book set.
