mixing up words, does your kid do this?

My six year old mixes up pronouns on a fairly regular basis. DD will call a boy "she" or vice versa. She also calls me "Dad" and DH "mom". She's always done it, but it's never stopped or gotten any better. Is that normal? My 2-year old doesn't really do that at all.

My 4 year old does. Not all the time, but often enough that we notice.

Of course my 8 year old sometimes looks right at me and calls me dad.

My kids both do this too - but so do I (just last night I told my kids that after dinner it was time for dinner....instead of bed)....I don't know if it's normal, but I do know that it got worse for me after I had kids.

My kids regularly call me Marci (their daycare provider), grandma, and dad.

3 yr old DS does this all the time.

I think it is cute, but when he plays with older kids they really hate it, so that is a bummer.

My kids call me "dad, I mean mom" and vice versa with my dh, all the time. Just like I call them G, I mean R, I mean I...

Yup

All the time and he is 7. I did it too to my divorced parents. Didn't go over well with them. They can suck an egg on that one though.

My DD is verbally advanced. She has never mixed pronouns (and corrects me if I do! ), but she mixes opposites: "I can drive a car when I am smaller [she means bigger]," or, "I want to be warmer [when she means cooler].

all the time! I still do it frequently....like time for dinner, when it's time for bed, and calling them opposite names despite the 4 yr gap and difference in gender. Meh, it happens lol

My 4 1/2 year old dd does this all the time. I think it might be because she goes to a bilingual preschool and her second language (Chinese) doesn't have different pronouns for female/male. Though when I think about it, she also mixes up before/after, next/last and more. I don't know what is up with that!
