Hi

Thread Starter
I just wanted to introduce myself, I think I'll be coming here a lot.

My 4 year old son was recently diagnosed with PDD-NOS and ADHD. He's a very loving and energetic, happy boy, but we've been dealing with some behavioral problems and sensory issues. We've been working with our local school district and the montessori pre-school he attends for a language delay (he's about 9 months behind but making lots of progress - last Sept he was 18 months behind) and a social skills delay.

I'm also the mommy of 2.5 month old b/g twins. I'm very scared and overwhelmed right now and don't quite know what to do. Any advice is greatly appreciated...I've been doing lots of research but don't really know where to start.

Nice to meet you everyone

Welcome to the SN Board.

Your son is making great progress! That's a really remarkable improvement in speech in such a short time.

These are my favorite books for ASD stuff....

Playing, Laughing and Learning with Children on the Autism Spectrum: A Practical Resource of Play Ideas for Parents and Carers by Julia Moor

Ten Things Every Child with Autism Wishes You Knew

Cutting-Edge Therapies for Autism 2010-2011

Healing the New Childhood Epidemics: Autism, ADHD, Asthma, and Allergies: The Groundbreaking Program for the 4-A Disorders by Dr. Kenneth Bock

I would encourage you to look at the biomedical information. Check out Dr. Bock's book. Biomedicine won't replace therapies, but it will help your child to feel better, focus better, sleep better, learn more easily...

Welcome!

Young twins are overwhelming all by themselves! So is the diagnosis process and all the emotions associated with that!

I think you'll find lots of support here and people happy to answer questions or give input or anything you need!

My son is six and has a PDD-NOS diagnosis among other "stuff". His fraternal twin is typically developing.
